Sam Green Elected as SWR President

Samuel L. Green, former Southwestern Union Conference executive secretary, has been elected president of the Southwest Region Conference.

The delegation of the Southwest Region Conference elected Elder Samuel L. Green as its new president on May 22. Green had served as the executive secretary, and human relations, public affairs, and religious liberty director of the Southwestern Union Conference since 1993. He has pastored in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. He has also served in administration as stewardship director, secretary-treasurer, and auditor. Elder Green serves on hospital boards and the Southwestern Adventist University Board.

Samuel Green graciously accepted the call and humbly thanked the delegation for their trust in him to serve the Southwest Region Conference. He is married to Mary Alice, a teacher in Mansfield, Tex., and they have parented sons Shelton, Cameron, and nephew, Bruce, all products of Christian education. They have four grandchildren.
