New ACS distribution center in Ruidoso
Ruidoso Downs — (N.Mex.) Adventist Community Services (ACS) opened a distribution center in Ruidoso Downs, N.Mex., after recent floods resulting from Hurricane Dolly left approximately 500-700 families homeless. Homes were washed downstream as floodwaters raced through the canyons surrounding the mountainous town. Since opening, the team served more than 12 families whose lives were devastated by the surprise flooding. Local leaders of the Ruidoso Downs church, Billy Parker, Mary Moya, and Marilee Redding, opened the distribution center at the request of the Ruidoso City and Lincoln County Emergency Management Team. Southwestern Union — With more than 1,500 in attendance, the Southwestern Union Ministries Convention was a tremendous success. It truly was “A Buffet of Ministries Training” as attendees selected seminars and presentations that enriched the ministries programs and needs at their churches. All weekend long there was abundant evidence of God’s presence in the meeting rooms, in the hallways, and on the faces of attendees as they realized more of their dream to serve God effectively.
