Mena — (Ark.) Members of our church spent the fall of 2007 focusing on evangelism. Pastor Tommy Blount began an evangelistic series on September 21, completing the series at the end of October. For five nights a week, Pastor Tommy presented the precious truth at the Polk County Fairgrounds, culminating on October 23 with a special service at our church, where eight wonderful people were baptized.
While Pastor Tommy’s Prophecy Seminars were underway, three elders from the Mena church held evangelistic meetings in Mexico. Mike Easton, Richard Lawry, and Tony Murell traveled to the state of Tamaulipas, Mexico, and from October 15 through 20, they held nightly meetings in three locations. Mike held meetings in Rio Bravo, Richard’s were in Valle Hermoso, and Tony’s series was in Reynosa. The meetings were coordinated by Nic Garza with help from local pastors of the East Gulf Conference in Mexico. This was the fourth time that lay members from Mena had held evangelistic series in Mexico within a span of a little more than a year.
During the meetings in Rio Bravo, one of those who asked for baptism was the pastor of a small church in the area. Since the series, he has been meeting with the local Adventist pastor to learn to be a leader in the Adventist church. Many precious people have learned the truths of the Bible because of the evangelistic mission of Pastor Tommy Blount and the Mena church members.
