Camp Texico Travels to Local Churches
One of the greatest blessings of youth ministry is watching God meet young people right where they are. That's exactly what happens through Camp Texico On the Go.
Instead of asking families to come to us, we bring camp to them. Each summer our team travels across the Texico Conference, partnering with local churches to create a fun, Christ-centered experience for children and families. From exciting games and creative activities to worship, Bible lessons, and new friendships, every part of camp is designed to help kids discover that Jesus loves them and that their local church is a place where they belong.
This summer, our staff of nine had the privilege of serving churches in El Paso, Tex.; Amarillo, Tex.; and Albuquerque, N.M., meeting many new young people and their families along the way. One of the greatest strengths of a traveling day camp is that it doesn't just impact the children who attend. It strengthens the local church. Camp creates opportunities for members to serve together, helps churches connect with their communities, and often opens doors for families who may be visiting a Seventh-day Adventist church for the very first time. Long after our team leaves town, those relationships remain in the hands of the local church to continue nurturing and discipling.
As we wrap up another incredible summer, we're excited to have finished the season with our newest addition, Family Camp at Bonita Park. Family Camp gives parents, grandparents, and children the opportunity to grow in their faith together. It's the perfect way to celebrate what God has done throughout the summer while creating memories that will last a lifetime.
None of this would be possible without the support of our churches, volunteers, pastors, and conference leadership. We are especially grateful to our conference president, Lee-Roy Chacon, for his continued encouragement and investment in the young people of the Texico Conference. His support reflects a commitment to the next generation and a belief that ministry to children, youth, and families is one of the greatest investments we can make in our local churches and in God's kingdom.
Thank you to every church that opened its doors, every volunteer who gave of their time, every parent who entrusted us with their children, and every camper who made this summer unforgettable. We believe the seeds planted through Camp Texico On the Go will continue to bear fruit in our local churches for years to come.
See you in 2027, Texico, for another camp season!
