Mena — (Ark.) Last summer, a friend of the church’s from Belize, Brother Collet Montejo, presented a week-long series of meetings at our church, entitled “Jesus is Still the Answer for the Family.” While preparing for evangelistic meetings in Belize City, Belize, Montejo realized that what the people there needed more than anything else was a focus on Jesus in their families. So he developed this series on making Jesus first in our and our families’ lives.
During the nightly series, Montejo presented messages that aimed to strengthen members’ families and marriages. He spoke during the Sabbath morning church service on the importance of seeing “My Family in Heaven” and emphasized how Jesus is willing to ride into any family situation that we may face.
Our church first became acquainted with Montejo in 2004 when 17 members went to Belize on a mission trip to build a church in San Pedro. They also brought a load of supplies to the La Loma Luz Hospital in Santa Elena, where they met Montejo. A wonderful friendship developed, and in 2005, Montejo came to Mena to pick up some medical equipment that had been donated by Mena Medical Center.
Montejo’s week-long revival was a great blessing to members of our church, and those who had been a part of the 2004 mission trip enjoyed the wonderful reunion with Montejo and his family.
