Workers who will be working at summer camps throughout the union strengthened their horsemanship skills during the Southwestern Union's annual equine training.

The Southwestern Union hosted its annual equine training at Lone Star Camp, May 24–29. This event prepares wranglers working at summer camps throughout the union to operate a safe and successful horse program.

Wranglers learned how to safely and effectively work with horses in a camp setting, gaining practical knowledge, strengthening their horsemanship skills, and learning how to confidently teach and lead campers around horses.

Participants found the opportunity to practice teaching skills and receive constructive feedback to be especially beneficial.

“It was an incredibly valuable experience,” says Heather Brown, horsemanship director at Lone Star. “Because of this experience, I am confident that our wranglers will be excellent instructors during the summer camp.”
