ACS Assists Flooded Avoyelles Parish

When devastating flooding from Tropical Storm Arthur impacted Avoyelles Parish, La., the Southwest Region Conference answered the call to serve.
At the request of the Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, Southwest Region Conference Adventist Community Services (ACS), under the leadership of Darriel Hoy, coordinated donation management efforts in Moreauville as communities transitioned from emergency response to long-term recovery.
With more than 1,500 households reporting flood damage, volunteers, including several young people, from the Alexandria Smyrna, Alexandria Maranatha, and Faith-Baton Rouge Seventh-day Adventist churches faithfully served Wednesday through Friday at the Moreauville Fire Department, receiving, organizing, and distributing essential relief supplies.
As residents begin the long road to recovery, Southwest Region Conference remains grateful for Hoy’s leadership and every volunteer who served as the hands and feet of Jesus. Please continue to pray for the families affected by the flooding, as well as the volunteers, first responders, and community leaders working tirelessly to restore hope across Avoyelles Parish.
