Dye Elected Property Development Director for Texas Conference

Texas Conference Executive Committee members elected Richard C. Dye Sr., M.Div., as Property Development director during a Zoom meeting on Tuesday, July 7. Dye will assume the position on Aug. 1.

Previously under the Treasury Department, Property Development is a new department that will oversee all properties registered under the Texas Conference Association, including Texas Conference churches and schools, the Adventist Book Center, Adventist Community Services, Lake Whitney Ranch, Transportation, and the main conference office building. 

Dye has worked for the Adventist Church for more than 40 years in five different conferences: Texas, Oklahoma, Texico, Iowa-Missouri and Kansas-Nebraska. He currently serves as district pastor for the Longview and Jefferson Central Seventh-day Adventist churches in Texas.

“Richard is very familiar with conference operations and understands the importance of ensuring our properties are cared for,” says Ismael A. Castillo, Ph.D., Texas Conference president. “Having a pastor’s heart and an administrative mind will be an asset as he works with our church and school leaders to care for, renovate, purchase or sell their properties.”

Other responsibilities for the position include ensuring that all properties adhere to applicable policies, regulations and compliance standards. In addition, the Property Development director will work with the treasurer/CFO, the association secretary and local entities to verify that properties are safe, functional and in a visually appealing condition.

Dye is a Doctor of Ministry candidate at Andrews University. He earned his Master of Divinity from the same institution and completed his Bachelor of Arts in Theology at Union College (now Union Adventist University).
